Even in a coffee town like Seattle, an $11,000 coffee maker raises
eyebrows. Zander Nosler and Coffee Equipment Company designed just
that: the Clover, a brewed coffee maker for retail shops. It brews a
fresh cup for every customer, letting flavor nuances come through and
satisfying demand for premium "third wave" coffee.
Starbucks acquired the company in April.
CEC dove into in an industry segment that hadn't seen innovation in a
century. How did they get the ear of Wall Street Journal, The
Economist, shop owners, and thousands of Internet fans.. and then Starbucks?
Come hear Zander Nosler spill the beans about what worked and what
didn't -- bringing top-notch coffee to the masses.
Zander Nosler co-founded Coffee Equipment Company in March of 2004, a
result of passion for engineering and product design. That, and he
wanted a really good cup of coffee. A Stanford alumus, Zander has more
than 11 years of experience at top design consulting firms, including
IDEO, Stratos, Moto and Teague.
