First Look Forum
Spring 2013 First Look Forum is on Tuesday, April 23rd
This biannual invite-only investor showcase features 12 early-stage, growth-oriented startups
from every segment of innovation in the Pacific Northwest — who are presenting to the investor
community for the first time. The culmination of an in-depth coaching program, this fast-paced
afternoon ends with the audience voting to select five finalists who in turn pitch to a panel of the
region’s top venture capitalists.
With annual attendance of over 120 representatives from over 20 venture and investment firms and angel groups, this event is truly one of a kind…and the only service providers in the room are the event sponsors.
Curriculum - eIQs and Workshops
NWEN is committed to helping entrepreneurs succeed, and by building a knowledge base and
a network, we accelerate the learning trajectory of our attendees so that their first startup feels
like their second! Our educational programming provides access to industry experts for all of the
essential building blocks of business.
In hard-hitting sessions known as eIQ’s, participants come with questions and leave with a
checklist of to-do’s. The events come in two formats — eIQ Classrooms, two-hour afternoon
sessions lead by subject-matter experts, and eIQ Workshops, four-hour morning sessions lead
by top law firms. Space is limited at these interactive sessions to ensure attendees get answers to all of their
burning questions.
Breakfast Buzz
Wake up and smell the coffee! At our monthly Breakfast Buzz, caffeinated conversation and
continental nosh lead into interactive panels, inspiring keynotes, and as always, audience Q&A.;
This event alternates venues between Seattle (The Easy) and Bellevue (Bellevue City Hall). Over the
course of the year, topics span the life cycle of the startup, and these highly engaged sessions
are designed to inspire attendees with lessons learned and practical tips from serial entrepreneurs,
investors, and advisors.
Entrepreneur University
EU 2012 is scheduled for Friday, November 9th
NWEN will bring together panels and workshops focused on Launch, Run, and Trending Topics (Lean, Gamification, Crowdfunding and more). In one day you’ll make connections to key influencers, network with like-minded entrepreneurs, gather educational materials, and set your sights on the right path for growth.
Could you find this all out on your own? Yes, but not to this level. Whether you’re an early-seed entrepreneur, just starting to plant your roots, or a fully formed master with ideas ripe for the picking, come see how you can flourish in this engaging entrepreneurial environment.
Pub Night - Speed Pitching & eDates
NWEN’s twist on happy hour provides entrepreneurs with the opportunity to connect with
peers, advisors and investors, and to either fine-tune their elevator pitch or get face-time
with experts.
This lively crowd, a great cross-section of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, enjoys cold drinks,
hot appetizers, and engaging conversation.
